Agile Delivery Lead______

Role Purpose

The Agile Delivery Lead (“ADL”) will manage the iterative delivery of software development projects aligned with product roadmaps within the Calastone Agile Methodology. Working alongside the various engineering team leads, the ADL will assist in the co-ordination, planning, delivery and reporting of work across Calastone’s Engineering teams, providing cross-team liaison as required.

The ADL will primarily be involved in the planning and reporting of Agile projects, with responsibility for leading, enabling and encouraging Agile practices, maintaining hygiene of associated artifacts, and other activities as required to deliver projects successfully. The role requires close collaboration with the wider team to understand resource obligations, dependencies and risks to ensure achievable, predictable delivery goals can be met.

The ADL will be responsible for facilitating and ensuring the effective implementation of the Scrum framework within our development teams. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to foster a collaborative and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development team leaders to manage the implementation of projects in line with product roadmaps to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Work across one or more Agile Teams, enabling and encouraging Agile practices in line with the Scrum framework.
  • Ensure development projects are appropriately planned scoped and estimated, to work with technical team leaders, product owners and business analysts.
  • Confirm milestones and collect data on project progress to facilitate board reporting, exception reporting and management review; actively monitor projects to ensure delivery objectives are met.
  • Facilitate Scrum Events: Organise and facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Remove Impediments: Identify and remove any obstacles that may hinder the team’s progress.
  • Coach Team Members: Provide guidance and support to team members on Agile practices and principles.
  • Ensure Transparency: Maintain transparency in the team’s progress and performance through effective communication and reporting.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Work with Stakeholders: Work closely with product owners, development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective delivery of projects.
  • Monitor and Report: Track and report on key metrics to measure the team’s performance and progress, this includes ensuring team members book their time appropriately
  • Ensure that project risks, issues and actions are appropriately captured, tracked and escalated where appropriate.
  • Work with other ADLs to identify and collect data on appropriate Agile metrics for team performance, and work to optimize team efficiency and ways of working.
  • Undertake Jira administration, configuring workflows, automating processes, providing user support and implementing best practice.
  • Collaboration and Guidance: Partnering with functional leads to address team dynamics and offer constructive feedback.
  • Manage the nearterm delivery schedule.

Required Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will have significant technical (IT) Agile project management experience, preferably within Financial Services and be a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

Project management experience will be sufficiently technical in nature that discussions with engineers and analysts can be understood, allowing the successful candidate to act as a bridge between the technical staff and Calastone’s business and management personnel. A solid grasp of the type of technical issues commonly encountered in the delivery of complex software solutions will be required.  A similar level of financial services industry knowledge would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will display an outcome-oriented approach, with an understanding of real-life project management and a proven record of delivery, solidly grounded in experience of Agile practices in technical projects. Direct experience as a Scrum Master or similar exposure to Scrum would constitute a distinct advantage.
