Data Engineer ______

Data Engineers are in charge of delivering new, and supporting existing, database and data technology developments at Calastone. You will be working in an team of expert data developers, with cutting edge technologies, and very large data sets. As you grow into the role, there will be lots of opportunity to learn and increase your responsibilities within the Data Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Involvement in database related development tasks & administration tasks for existing SQL environments both on-premise and in the cloud
  • Involvement in new MI data warehouse development
  • Provide support for database related performance & technical issues
  • Assisting in-house Software Development teams with good database design principles and best practices.
  • Support and design for ETL processes

 

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong T-SQL skills (writing queries; building stored procedures; functions etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of query performance optimisation
  • DBA experience especially on SQL 2019
  • Good knowledge of SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
  • Good knowledge of Data Management, Data Warehouse concepts and PowerBI development

 

Desirable Knowledge & Experience

  • PowerShell for Windows
  • Microsoft PowerBI
  • Spark/DataBricks
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Networking or Infrastructure principles
  • DEVOPS methodologies and principles
  • .Net framework especially on C#
  • GitHub
  • Cloud technologies – Azure SQL and Data integration technologies
  • General knowledge of financial services and especially of mutual funds

On-Call Requirement:

  • The development team provide out-of-hours on-call support to the operations team on a rota basis, typically once every 3-4 weeks. The role holder would be invited to join this rota once suitably skilled.
