Head of Product (London) ______

Role Purpose

Define and execute the product strategy with the aim of delivering a compelling set of products to our clients that contribute revenue to the business and stay true to our company mission of delivering value and efficiency to investors.  Leading a team of Product and Design specialists to achieve these goals you will also own and manage the governance process which determines how ideas are screened, how products get prioritized and how the resources across Product and Technology get utilised.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide, own and communicate the overall product portfolio strategy, roadmap and feature set against the vision set by the CTO and in-line with our company strategy
• Collaborate with your development partners within Technology (PMO, Engineering) and the client-facing teams in Sales, Operations and Marketing to ensure delivery, adoption and success of your Products
• Support, assign and motivate your team of Product Managers and Designers to high performance – driving achievement of the budgetary goals (costs and revenues) of the product set
• Chair the Product Steering Committee, with attendees from the senior leadership team (C-level leaders) to ensure speedy and transparent decision making enabling efficient development and enhancement of the Product portfolio
• Represent the Customer/Client in decision making
• Support Sales in Client meetings; investigating client needs and establishing views on existing and new product capabilities to meet them – you will decide who to assign to these meetings from your team
• Representing Calastone at industry events directly, or assigning relevant members of your team

Required Knowledge & Experience

The technical knowledge required for the Product function includes but is not limited to:

• Software development lifecycle in an Agile environment
• Microsoft office suite; Salesforce

The business knowledge desired/required for the Product function includes but is not limited to:

• Required
o Commercial results-oriented leadership with a keen eye on revenues and costs of current and new Products – looking for ways to optimise your Products for maximum return
o Ability to see the market, company and product set at a macro and micro level to enable strategic and tactical approach to product opportunities and align resources accordingly
o Have >3 years of leading a team, with experience of target setting and performance management and examples of team’s achieving high performance
o Have >7 years’ experience in a Product Management/Development/Design role
o Have a track record of product delivery, showing how products have matured and grown (or been killed off) under your ownership – understanding the end-to-end product lifecycle
o Direct experience of Agile development processes and able to evangelize its adoption
o Stakeholder Management and influence with comfort of operating with C-level leaders, enabling a disciplined governance of the Product development process
o Rich history of client/customer-led Product development, with examples of executions based on client/customer needs, insights and testing
o Recognised as a great communicator – succinct, clear, direct and transparent in your interactions with peers, leadership and clients
o Knowledge of the Financial Services sector
• Desired
o Experience of Profit and Loss (P&L) ownership
o Experience in the Fintech/Financial Services industry an advantage – Funds experience a distinct advantage
o Knowledge of the roles and actors involved within funds distribution and the functions within a fund management company
o Experience in a regulatory-influenced industry with understanding of the role of the regulator; Market practice

Influence – Provides open feedback with actionable intent – also solicits this from peers, team and leadership
