Technical Project Manager______

The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for delivering software development projects in association with the IT Programme Manager and CTO, working alongside the various Technical Team leaders and within the Calastone Agile Methodology.  The Technical Project Manager will assist in the management, reporting and, where required, remediation of work across Calastone’s Agile Engineering teams, providing cross-team liaison as required.

The Technical Project Manager will primarily be involved in technical project planning and reporting, with parallel responsibilities for leading, enabling and encouraging Agile practices, supplemented by other activities as required to deliver projects successfully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement defined projects as approved with the IT Programme Manager and CTO, and ensure that deliverables are met, working closely with the appropriate technical team leaders.
  • Serve as Agile Lead in one or more Agile Teams, enabling and encouraging Agile practices in line with the Calastone Agile definition, and contributing to the ongoing refinement of Calastone’s Agile practices.
  • Ensure technical projects are appropriately scoped and estimated, using Calastone’s Agile Methodology to collaborate with technical team leaders, product owners and business analysts.
  • Agree milestones and collect data on project progress to support board reporting, exception reporting and management review.
  • Ensure that project risks, issues and actions are appropriately documented, tracked and escalated where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other TPMs and the IT Programme Manager to identify and collect data on appropriate Agile metrics for team performance, and work to enable the teams to improve those metrics.

Required Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will have significant technical (IT) Agile project management experience, preferably within Financial Services.

The Project Management experience will be sufficiently technical in nature that discussions with developers and analysts can be understood, allowing the successful candidate to act as a bridge between the technical staff and Calastone’s business and management personnel. A solid understanding of the kind of technical issues commonly encountered in the delivery of complex software solutions will be required.  A similar level of financial services industry knowledge would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will display an outcome-oriented approach, with an understanding of real-life project management and a proven record of delivery, solidly grounded in experience of Agile practices in technical projects.
