EQUITY FUNDS SUFFER 14TH MONTH OF OUTFLOWS IN LAST 15 AS INVESTORS TURN TO CASH

UK investors continued to sell down equities in August. Equity funds suffered net outflows of £315m during the month, marking the fourth consecutive month of net selling and the 14th month of outflows in the last 15.

Key highlights from this month’s FFI:

  • Equity funds shed £315m in August, their 14th month of outflows in the last 15
  • UK equity funds bore the brunt, losing £601m, while European funds shed £145m
  • North American equity funds saw first outflows since November, but just £3m
  • Investors have withdrawn £15.16bn from equity funds since June

  • Money market funds took £364m, their strongest inflow since November
